Pre-Surgery Play-Date

August 13th, 2009 · No Comments

I’ve been keeping in touch with the other three moms from my birth class.  As a result, Lloyd has three baby friends who are very close in age to him.

This is David, Lloyd, and Sequoia.  David is three days younger than Lloyd and Sequoia is about three weeks younger.   Lloyd didn’t look this serious the whole time but he wasn’t in the mood to be glamor-shot this day.

Seqouia already crawls and can pull herself up into a standing position.  Here she is using Lloyd as a table.

And here is Isak, who is perhaps 5 weeks younger than Lloyd.  Lloyd isn’t really sleeping here, but like I said, he wasn’t in the mood for glamour shots.  Isak had a rough start in life, having to spend several weeks in the hospital post birth.  But he is doing fantastic now!   I hope we can continue to get together with these wonderful moms and children as the babies grow.

Little Baby Cyst Head No More

August 13th, 2009 · 3 Comments

(I had to re-post this because the formatting was weird and it was killing me)

Lloyd had surgery on August 7th at 7:30am.  He had his dermoid cyst removed and everything went fine.  The fasting in the morning even went smoothly, as Lloyd was able to sleep up until it was time to leave.  The surgery lasted an hour, but then he was awake and obviously quite upset. It took a while to calm him down, but he was smiling and showing off his new waving trick by the time we were leaving the hospital at around 9:30am.

Here he is looking adorable in his hospital gown:

And here he is later that morning, with his big swollen wound.  He was acting completely normal, even when we gave him his pain medication.  Babies are pretty amazing.

Another Birth Reflection

August 5th, 2009 · No Comments

I’ve been reading a lot of birth stories recently, as I’ve been doing my homework for my Doula Certification (I’m going to be a doula – did you know that?).  Anyway, this one story brought a wave of memories back from my own birth experience, just over 8 months ago.  These are a few I didn’t share in the birth story I first posted on this site.

I’ll share them with you after the jump…

Mom!

July 29th, 2009 · 3 Comments

Hello everyone! It is I, Greg, returned to blog posting after several months! Ok, that is not anywhere near as exciting as my news:

Despite everyone saying that dada was easier for babies to say, Mr. Lloyd has said his first word – Mom! He has been babbling quite a bit lately, especially “mamamamamamamama”, but lately when he wants his mom he will reach for her and say “mommmm!”. It is heartbreakingly cute how much he loves his mommy.
