Grand Rapids
Lloyd mastered walking the same week he turned 14 months old. Now he lumbers about and scurries everywhere. It’s adorable! A lot of people say something along the lines of “Oh, you’re in trouble now!!!” but that isn’t true even kind of. For one, walking Lloyd moves much slower than crawling Lloyd. For another, Lloyd’s always been able to pull himself up to standing, so it’s not like he’s able to reach new stuff that he couldn’t before. The last month was hard because he was experimenting with walking, and that meant a lot of falling. Now that he’s getting the hang of it, there’s a lot less stumbling and when he does fall, it’s with a bit more grace.
Lloyd is also continuing to build on his vocabulary. He says “No!” in this crazy weird graspy growl and he shakes his head. My favorite new thing is that he says “tickle tickle tickle” and will proceed to attempt to tickle you or the cats. It’s very, very cute.
Sleeping has continued to improve. Now he regularly sleeps from 7pm to about 4:15am and then things get dicey. We try and keep him in his crib until 6am. He does two naps everyday still and they last over an hour each. He still cries for a minute or two when I put him down for his naps, but bedtime goes a lot smoother with almost always no-tears.
This past weekend we traveled to Grand Rapids, which was about 2 hours and 15 minutes away. Lloyd did okay in the car, considering we timed our trips with his morning naps. By the time we got to our destination, he was pretty much at the end of his rope. However, he was able to sleep in his travel crib for a nap and throughout the night, so that was a relief. He woke up about 6 times during the night, which made the next day a little groggy for everyone. However, it was nice to know we could visit our super awesome friends the Dwyers on occasion. They have a baby on the way come July : )
