Lloyd at 13 months

January 18th, 2010 · No Comments

Lloyd is now 13 months old.    Read More to learn all about our special guy.

Lloyd has 10 teeth and is wearing mostly size 2t clothes.  If you can believe it, he still hasn’t picked an eye-color yet.  The safe-bet is on them being hazel, like his dad’s.  However, sometimes they look completely brown, utterly green, and evidently blue.

Lloyd has, at one point, said as many as 10 words/phrases.  He says:

  • Mama
  • Dada
  • Kitty
  • Cat
  • Bye Bye (with a wave)
  • What’s that?
  • Ball
  • Balloon
  • Bebee Bubb On! (“Belly Button”)
  • Wow

He also says “Oh, Shit!” but we’re going to pretend he doesn’t.

Our little dude is being pretty funny about walking.  Since early December (or was it November?) he has been taking two steps, then sitting down and crawling.  Recently he’s pulled out some big moves: He’ll stand up in the middle of the room from a sitting position, without holding on to anything.   He’s walked as many as 10 steps in a row.  But these “big moves” are separated by many days of Lloyd not taking any steps at all, and just crawling wherever he wants to go.  So when he’ll decide it’s time to really buckle down and focus on walking is anyone’s guess.  He’s sort of a late-bloomer on this one, and that’s understandable considering his size!  He’s got a lot of body to balance.

Speaking of his size, he is now too big to be rear-facing in his car-seat, despite the fact that it has been recently found to be best to have children remain rear-facing for upwards of two years.   We talked to our pediatrician about this and she said what makes the most sense:  find out what the manufacturer’s instructions say its heigh and weight limits are, and if Lloyd exceeds them, turn him to the front!  So front-facing he is, and this makes car-rides a lot more pleasant for him.

Baby food is also a part of the past.  Now Lloyd eats whatever the adults are enjoying.  It’s been a great motivator to cook better meals more often.

Poor 13 month-old Lloyd has also undergone a big, somewhat traumatic change: moving from the family bed into his crib.  But this transition merits its own blog post, so look for that.
