Lloyd at 4-months

April 4th, 2009 · 2 Comments

Lloyd is now 4 months old, and is just shy of 20 lbs.  He’s still in the 97 – 100% for all his measurements (head circumference, weight, and length).  He is completely proportional and gorgeous.

Read on to learn how Lloyd is doing!

Lloyd has grown lots of new grown-up boy hair, after having spent some time completely bald except for a rat-tail.  It looks pretty blonde right now, and his eyes seem to have settled into being hazel, like his daddy’s.
He loves to “talk” and move around.  He grabs any toys or clothes or cloths laying around and brings them to his mouth to chew.  He’s sort of taken a hiatus from rolling over all the way, but will turn over onto both of his sides often.  He spends a lot of time in his saucer and in his door jumper, using his legs and turning himself all about.  The baby swing is pretty much retired, as he doesn’t like to sleep in it anymore.  BUT the high-chair has been assembled and will now be in use at meal times.
Sleep in general is a problem: he’s abandoned his bassinet again and demands to be held all night long.  As long as we’re holding him, he’ll sleep with no interruptions from 10pm to 6:30am.  The doctor says we have to sleep-train him, telling us that he’d cry for about 15 minutes and then fall asleep.  Turns out Lloyd can cry for infinity minutes.  We tried it for a night and Lloyd cried bloody murder and it’s not for us.  We’re looking into “no-tears” solutions.
His cyst on his brow has grown right along with him, remaining the same size in relation to his face.  We have a meeting with a pediatric plastic surgeon (!) in June and will discuss the surgery to remove it then.  I’m not sure when they’ll recommend performing the surgery, but we pretty much know they are going to tells us to get it done.  The cyst isn’t hurting anything, and is just under the surface of his skin.  However, it could eventual inhibit the brow bone on which it lies from growing strong and thick.  The surgery would be incredibly quick, but Lloyd would have to be put on anaesthesia, which is a little scary for me.   But these are worries for future Jenna to deal with!  Present-day Jenna and Greg are focusing on sleep solutions and the coming of spring.
