Read on for an update on all that is going on with Lloyd now that he’s half a year old.

Lloyd is so close to crawling, we’re all on the edge of our seats.  He goes from laying flat on his stomach and rocks back into child’s pose, back and forth.   He gets himself up on all fours and then launches his face into the floor.  We will see how long it takes for him to coordinate all the limbs.  We got him a cubicle where he holds office hours, which is called “Joovy” appropriately enough.

He sits like a pro, and instead of crashing when he’s tired, he gently gets himself down on the blankets, much to my relief, although I still keep him surrounded by his boppy for safety’s sake.

Lloyd cut three top teeth (both his eye teeth and one of his fronts) in one week.  We were all on murder suicide watch, but somehow we made it through.  That’s a total of five teeth!  Hopefully we’ll be on a teething vacation for the next couple of weeks, but I can’t help but notice the dude sticking his fingers deep into the back corners of his gums…

After getting the all-clear at our 6 month check-up, we’ve started introducing Lloyd to vegetables.  The carrots were a hard-sell.  We’ve had some success blending them with his rice cereal, but it’ll be a while until he eats them plain.  Sweet potatoes on the other-hand were a big success.  We give each vegetable about three days, then we introduce something new.

Nursing continues to go smoothly, with the exception of Lloyd’s crazy hands.  When he’s not sleepy, he gropes my face with great intensity, often slipping a finger deep into my nostrils to check my sinuses.   His busy phalanges inspect my gums and teeth, and then dive into my eye sockets to try and remove my contact lenses.  If there happen to be any fly-away hairs, those are grasped and pulled as if I were Rapunzel.

I wouldn’t say Lloyd babbles as much as concentrates on a particular vowel.  His talking sounds something like “AaaahhhAhhhhwoooooooooo” or “ENNNNNNNNnnnn.”

Sleeping is going much better.  Most of the time Lloyd will spend at least 5 hours in his bassinet.  There are nights where he will do more than that, and of course there are still nights where he won’t have any of it.   We are happy with our current arrangement for now.
