Lloyd at 7 Months

Lloyd is now 7 months old.

Here is a picture of him and his father in awesome matching shirts (thanks, Dwyers!):

Lloyd’s shirt shows evidence of sippy cup trials.

Our sweet little baby is now over 25 lbs and quite tall, remaining extremely proportional.  He wears sized 18-month clothes and size 5 shoes, but I’m sure he will have moved up to the next size within the next couple of weeks.  His hair is still thin on the sides, but growing everyday.  It’s a dirty blonde.  His eyes have still not settled on a color, showing signs of being blue, green, hazel, or brown.

His top-three most popular comments remain: “He’s so cute!,” “He’s a big boy!” (after asking us his age), and “He’s very serious.”   The last one is my favorite, because although Lloyd can be giggly and smiley, when he’s contemplative it is with an extremely sobering stare.  So sobering that you have to laugh, if that makes any sense  : )

Lloyd is still very close to crawling.  He gets himself up on all fours, but as soon as he tries to progress forward, he rolls over.  He might as well be crawling, for all the movement he is capable of with his rolling, scooting, and dragging.  Although I think he’ll be much happier when he can officially crawl, he can get just about anywhere he wants to now through his various other transportation methods.

Teething is on-going, although we are presently in an okay stage where nothing is breaking-through the surface.  Due to our previous of experience, we’ll know we’re back in the thick of it when he gets a cold.  Right now he has 6 teeth that are fully through the gums and look like real chompers!

Lloyd is back to eating solids multiple times during the day, after a brief teething-related protest.  He also has these little fast-dissolving Cheerio type cereals that he can pick up and feed to himself (sometimes).  He also is able to use give himself a drink with his own sippy cup, and can spoon-feed himself some delicious sweet potatoes (sometimes).

We finally retired the bassinet when Lloyd was an inch longer than the mattress inside. We got a travel-crib and he’s been sleeping in it with about the same regularity as he did the bassinet.  In the past two nights he’s gotten up around 2 am and wakes up every hour from then until we decide to call it quits and go downstairs.  It’s been rough, but we think it’s just a combination of teething and gas pains (as more solid eating means more constipation).

Lloyd is very chatty nowadays.  In just the span of one week this past month he went from whining groaning to full-on babbling.  He does a lot of gurgling and purring, and loves to buzz his lips.  But now he does a lot more jibber jabber and it’s fun to pretend he’s speaking English.  Like if he says “Broaakk ahnn tissshhh glueeee” we’ll reply “No, I don’t see a broken tissue anywhere.  What are you thinking about?”

He sits and grabs the toys around him.  He eyes something on his blanket and can grab it and bring it to his mouth with no problem, or he can get himself down into a laying position and roll to it.  He’ll make choices between two toys offered to him and is overall a real genius in our book. One thing that’s super fun is we can now have stuffed animals talk to him and to other toys and Lloyd will laugh and laugh, having a lot more appreciation for “pretend” games.  He remains super friendly and sweet, and we feel very lucky.
